Just started playing an indie game today called Uncanny Valley from Cowardly Creations. Steam suggested the game, it had just released on September 28th. It’s a retro survival/horror game. Now usually I don’t play horror games, I love watching them, however I get too scared to continue playing. Despite that though, I decided to give this one a shot.
So far I’m pretty impressed. At first glance you wouldn’t imagine that the game could be truly scary, but any doubts I had were quickly cast aside within the first minute of playing it. I nearly jumped out of my seat at the beginning. When you first begin the game you are informed that every decision you make will affect the outcome of the game and therefore each playthrough could be different, something which I find immediately intriguing and exciting. After all it’s always a good thing when a game like this has good replay value.
I don’t want to put any spoilers out there, but here’s the basic setting. You play a guy named Tom, who just got a job as a security guard at a facility located in a somewhat isolated area. You are picked up from the train station by the current security guard working at this facility. He explains that the facility has been abandoned, and for now it is simply their job to watch the empty building until the company decides what to do with it.
If you’re interested in the game, but not yet ready to buy it (though you should because it’s currently on sale on Steam), I will be uploading my playthrough so far to YouTube tomorrow. I will update this post as soon as the video is online. Either way I recommend that everyone try this game!
